Prologue
45 days is a short story of a software engineer. All the characters in this story may be fictious or true.
a. June 2005
It was the beginning of southwest monsoon in India and was pouring heavily. I could hear the splattering noise of the rain through the window and suddenly felt that I need to rush to the office, since the time was 8:30am. I immediately rushed to my bathroom and completed all the morning duties and had a quick shower, by then it was 8:45am. I was not so excited though it’s going to be my first day at office!
I prostrated before god and asked for peace of mind.... Billu accompanied me to the office. Billu was not in a good mood that day, his face was filled with anger, I could feel that he was in a way insecure, since I was leaving him, I couldn't help him to come out of that state. Billu and me were inside the office at around 9:30am. The HR people started verifying my mark sheets and gave me a file of documents to be filled. Billu pretended to be happy and was talking to me as if nothing happened the last night.
b. Till September 05
With 3 months of training ahead of me I wanted leave the past and begin a new life.... and I did it!!! I was staying along with 4 people who were from various parts of Tamilnadu. I was just sharing the room with them and nothing else!..In the race of software training, right from the first week, Catalunya* was my pit stop...3 months went on... once the training was over, I had a swirl in my fortune.. I was put in one more round of training .. SAP-ABAP...
c. Back to college days - till Feb 06...
The ABAP training was filled with fun and only fun... If I had learnt something, I think I did it after the training.... I could play only NFS5, Cue ball, AirXonix and a flash car racing game during the training...I don’t know how the proxies work... but I used them... The network kept blocking the proxies and we start finding new ones... finding new proxies was more challenging than work...
Learning TT was tougher than ABAP... I was much disciplined to reach the TT table by 6:30pm
d. Breaking moment.... till April 06
Was given a cubicle and put into support project...
e. Defining moment..from april 06
Was put into implementation project for a Dubai client and in fact my first challenging project.
My teammate and my best friend were in Hyderabad for this project, working in cyber towers, Hi-tech city...... We were tried and tested in this project and we did an amazing job with laurels pouring from all over the place...
After 3 months of project and successful go-live, it was yet another challenging moment for me... I was working in HR ABAP in Vizag for about a month... I made several friends there.....enjoyed a lot...
Once again a challenge, I was transferred back to Chennai... I define it as an unethical transfer.....
I was on deputation from Chennai and was working in Mumbai for about 6 months.... I learned hell a lot of politics over there than technical knowledge..... This time I was working global client and gained a lot of process knowledge... There were few people who were my inspiration and still they are my inspiration....
f. Final 45 days.. Till July 07
It was time for a radical shift...
I am a free bird now..... Back to my hometown Hyderabad... Taking care of my mom and dad... working for an amazing company and still a software engineer!!!!...
